While you may be familiar with the TR1 form<\/a>,\nwhich is used to formally transfer ownership of a property, the TP1 form, which\nworks in a similar way, is generally less well-known but can be just as important\ndepending on your circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a TP1 form?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The TP1\nform<\/a> is an official, legal document that transfers ownership of part of<\/em>\na registered title to another party. Unlike the TR1 form, which transfers\nownership of a whole property or piece of land, the TP1 form is specifically\nused when only a portion of a property or land is being sold or transferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To put it simply, if you\u2019re buying or selling a section of land rather than an entire plot, or if a property is being divided between multiple owners<\/a>, the TP1 form is likely to come into play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does a TP1 form differ from a TR1 form?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Both the TP1 and TR1 forms play an\nimportant part in the conveyancing process, but they serve different purposes.\nThe TR1 form is the more commonly used document, especially in straightforward\nproperty sales where an entire property is transferred from one owner to\nanother. For example, if you\u2019re buying a house and the plot of land it sits on,\nthe TR1 form is the document that will transfer ownership from the seller to\nyou and needs to be completed before contracts\nare exchanged<\/a> and the sale is completed<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In contrast, the TP1 form is used when a\npart of a registered title is being transferred. This could happen, for\ninstance, in the following situations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
