Rather than being a simple choice between a traditional high-street agent and a purely online service, sellers now have a wider range of options. Some online agents offer a largely digital service, while hybrid agencies like Yopa combine online tools with local property experts who can provide valuations, arrange viewings and help negotiate offers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That means reviews are only part of the picture when choosing an estate agent. A company can have excellent national reviews, but the quality of service you receive may depend on the individual agent or team handling your sale. It\u2019s therefore worth checking several review sources, looking at recent feedback and, where possible, comparing the agent\u2019s actual local sales performance as well as customer satisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The good news is that there are now several useful websites that can help you do this. As well as review platforms such as allAgents and Trustpilot, sites such as GetAgent and the HomeOwners Alliance provide additional information to help sellers compare their options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Top tip:<\/strong> &#8220;<em>Always use more than one source of reviews. Check the review platform&#8217;s verification rules, the number and recency of reviews, whether the reviewer names the local agent, and how the company responds when something goes wrong.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p><cite>Ben Johnson, Valuations Consultant, Yopa<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>allAgents<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">allAgents is perhaps the best-known estate agent review website, describing itself as the UK&#8217;s largest customer-review site for the property industry. This is thanks in part to the fact that it has been around since 2006 and during this time has accumulated hundreds of thousands of individual reviews which allAgents says are moderated, checked for authenticity and subject to human review. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are some quick links to their reviews for the \u2018big three\u2019 hybrid and online estate agents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.allagents.co.uk\/yopa\/\">allAgents reviews for Yopa<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.allagents.co.uk\/purplebricks.com\">allAgents reviews for Purplebricks<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.allagents.co.uk\/strike.co.uk\">allAgents reviews for Strike (who have now acquired Purplebricks)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Trustpilot<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trustpilot is in many ways similar to allAgents, but it is a much larger website and publishes reviews for all online businesses. This means that you many not find any reviews about your local high street estate agent on here, but you will almost certainly find them for online and hybrid estate agents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.trustpilot.com\/review\/www.yopa.co.uk\">Trustpilot reviews for Yopa<\/a> (<em>Yopa has more than 25,000 Trustpilot reviews, with over 85% rated five stars and 1,688 reviews in the last 12 months. For a local view, use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yopa.co.uk\/our-local-agents\">branch finder<\/a> and read reviews that name the agent who covers your area.<\/em>) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.trustpilot.com\/review\/purplebricks.co.uk\">Trustpilot reviews for Purplebricks<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>GetAgent<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.getagent.co.uk\/\">GetAgent<\/a> takes a slightly different approach to comparing estate agents. As well as customer reviews, it uses property sales data to help sellers compare agents based on factors such as average sale time, asking price achieved, the number of properties an agent has listed and fees. You can enter your postcode to see estate agents operating in your area and compare their performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This can be particularly useful because reviews don&#8217;t necessarily tell you how effective an agent is at actually selling properties. An agent might have excellent reviews for customer service, for example, but you may also want to know how quickly they typically sell properties and how often they achieve asking price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GetAgent says its rankings are based on performance data from HM Land Registry and major property portals, alongside customer reviews. It is free for sellers to use, although it receives a referral fee from an estate agent if you choose an agent through its service and the property subsequently sells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> HomeOwners Alliance <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/hoa.org.uk\/\">HomeOwners Alliance<\/a> (HOA) is another useful source of information when comparing estate agents. Rather than simply providing a list of customer reviews, it offers independent guides and advice to help homeowners understand how different types of estate agent work and what to consider before signing up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its <a href=\"https:\/\/hoa.org.uk\/advice\/guides-for-homeowners\/i-am-selling\/compare-online-estate-agents\/\">guide<\/a> to comparing online and hybrid estate agents looks at the different services available, using review sites and local performance data, and highlights factors such as fees, what is included in the service and how the selling process works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This makes HOA useful for putting review scores into context. An online or hybrid agent may offer a different level of hands-on support from a traditional high-street agent, so it is important to check exactly what you are getting for the fee. For example, find out who will carry out viewings, who will negotiate with buyers and who will handle the sale after an offer has been accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Google Reviews<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google has been collecting user reviews for a whole host of businesses for a while now, including \u2013 you guessed it \u2013 estate agents! Unlike allAgents, Trustpilot and GetAgent, Google\u2019s reviews don\u2019t have their own website though. Instead, you will need to check the Google Business Profile for the specific branch or local agent, rather than simply searching for the national company&#8217;s name.
