Transport Links<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to its\ncentral location within the UK, Leeds is easily reached from all other major\ncities. There are direct trains<\/a> from London, Manchester, Bristol\nand Newcastle and the train station is conveniently located in heart of the\ncity centre. For international arrivals, there\u2019s Leeds\nBradford Airport<\/a> which also operates a regular shuttle bus into the\ncity. The Flyer A1<\/a> service takes you into central Leeds\nin around 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you\u2019re in the\ncity, local bus services run by Arriva Yorkshire<\/a> and First Leeds<\/a>\ntake passengers across town and further afield. Thanks to its compact size, the\ncity is also easy to traverse on foot and is situated on several cycle routes\nincluding the National Cycle Network<\/a> and the Trans\nPennine Trail<\/a>. The nearby A1M, A1 and M62 make Leeds easily\naccessible by car too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schools and Education<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Leeds is well known\nfor being a student city, and with several higher education institutions on\noffer prospective students are spoilt for choice. Leeds\nBeckett University<\/a> and the University of Leeds<\/a> enroll thousands of\nstudents a year, whilst the Northern School of Contemporary Dance<\/a>, Leeds Arts\nUniversity<\/a> and Leeds Conservatoire<\/a> provide specialist\ncourses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For younger pupils,\nthe primary schools in Leeds offer students the best start to their education.\nAt the most recent Ofsted inspection, Blenheim\nPrimary School<\/a>, St Peter\u2019s Church of England Primary School<\/a>, Shakespeare\nPrimary School<\/a>, Ebor Gardens Primary School<\/a> and Hillcrest\nAcademy<\/a> were all rated \u2018good\u2019 or \u2018outstanding\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roundhay\nSchool<\/a>, The Morley Academy<\/a>, Ruth\nGorse Academy<\/a> and Garforth Academy<\/a> all come highly recommended.\nFor those looking for independent options, there\u2019s Fulneck\nSchool<\/a> and The\nGrammar School at Leeds<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city is known\nfor its SEN provision, with several schools catering to students with special\nneeds. Springwell\nLeeds Academy<\/a>, John Jamieson School<\/a> and Penny Field\nSchool<\/a> provide education for children with a range of learning\ndifficulties, with Broomfield South SILC<\/a> and Lighthouse\nSchool Leeds<\/a> also nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leisure and Amenities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of the city\u2019s biggest\nbenefits for prospective homeowners is the wide variety of amenities and\nfacilities available. Leeds is known for its high street, boasting a huge array\nof big-name brands as well as several impressive shopping centres. The nearby Yorkshire\nDales<\/a> is a great day out for anyone looking to escape the hustle and\nbustle of the city, with stunning views, waterfalls, and hikes for all\nabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art lovers will\nalso be at home in the city, with Leeds Art Gallery<\/a> and The Tetley<\/a>\nserving up some of the best in modern and contemporary art and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park<\/a>\njust a short drive away. Leeds is one of the few UK cities outside of London to\nhave its own resident ballet<\/a> and opera<\/a>\ncompanies, bringing year round concerts and shows to venues across the city.\nThere\u2019s no fewer than three heritage theatres<\/a> in this artistic hub\ntoo, meaning culture vultures will be more than satisfied. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If sport is more\nyour thing, Leeds will be more than happy to accommodate. There\u2019s the legendary\nElland Road, home to Leeds United<\/a>, as well as regular sporting\nevents across the city. It\u2019s no surprise\nthat this cosmopolitan centre has one of the busiest event calendars in the\ncountry. The summer is filled with live music in the form of the ever popular Leeds\nFestival<\/a> which attracts some of the biggest names in pop. Millennium\nSquare<\/a> also plays host to their yearly Summer Series, a huge range\nof festivals and concerts including film screenings, music events and live\nshows. This outdoor public square is run by Leeds City Council and is one of\nthe most successful event venues in the city. Other major venues include the O2 Academy<\/a>, Belgrave\nMusic Hall<\/a>, Leeds Town Hall<\/a> and Brudenell\nSocial Club<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leeds\nInternational Festival of Ideas<\/a> showcases the best new innovations\nwith speakers, workshops and panel discussions on everything from music to\nscience to politics. There\u2019s also Leeds Waterfront Festival<\/a> which fills the\ncity\u2019s waterways and canals with activities, music, and family fun for over a\nmonth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Th city\u2019s packed\nschedule doesn\u2019t let up in the winter months either, with the annual Leeds\nLight Night<\/a> now in its 18th year. This celebration of light includes\ninstallations, performances, and interactive displays from leading artists, as\nwell as stunning projections in both indoor and outdoor venues. There\u2019s also\nthe Leeds\nInternational Beer Festival<\/a> in October, celebrating the best in beer\nand ale from across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crime and Safety<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As with all inner-city\nareas in the UK, Leeds does experience some crime. According to police reports,\nrates are in line with the average rate across West Yorkshire and Leeds City Police<\/a> is a division of the West\nYorkshire Police<\/a> with specific goals and policies to target crimes\nassociated with inner city areas. This dedicated and localised approach helps\nto reduce crime and build the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are also\nseveral Neighbourhood\nWatch<\/a> schemes across the area, as well as the Leeds Crime Reduction Network<\/a>, a multi-agency\npartnership whose aim is to make the city safer. They work with both victims\nand criminals to support them and find solutions to issues flagged by the\ncommunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
