Recent regeneration to create new green spaces within the town centre, development<\/a> of the market square and a multi-million pound leisure facility<\/a> mean this previously overlooked area is quickly becoming more sought after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, house prices remain relatively affordable, with the average sale price over the last year coming in at \u00a3208,588. Considerably less than South Yorkshire overall, and popular local hotspots Cawthorne and Dore in particular. As well as a bustling town centre and wealth of amenities, Rotherham is part of the Sheffield green belt<\/a> which preserves rural spaces and the countryside, meaning walks, nature trails and stunning parks are right on the doorstep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transport<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Rotherham benefits from being located just 8 miles from Sheffield and 30 miles from Leeds, which means the town has good transport links within the Yorkshire area and further afield to the rest of the UK. Rotherham Central train station is located in the middle of the town, with regular departures via Trans Pennine Express<\/a> to Sheffield taking just 14 minutes and services to Manchester in 90 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s also the well-used bus interchange<\/a> which is serviced by both First\nBus<\/a> and Stagecoach<\/a>, connecting Rotherham to nearby\ntowns and villages across the South Yorkshire area. The M1 is just a ten-minute\ndrive from the town too, strategically linking Rotherham to the rest of the\ncountry via the M18 and the A630.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schools\nand Education<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For parents of school aged children, Rotherham\u2019s wide selection of schools has something to suit everyone\u2019s needs and the town is particularly recognised for its choice of SEND schools. There are three in the area, all rated either \u2018good\u2019 or \u2018outstanding\u2019. Kelford School<\/a> is an all through school with a dedicated 16-19 centre which focuses on vocational and life skills. Newman School<\/a> and Abbey School<\/a> also cater for all ages and provide specialist education and care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Primary schools in the area also come highly recommended, with several options in the town including Thornhill Primary School<\/a>, Broom Valley Community School<\/a>, Eastwood Village Primary School <\/a>and Canklow Woods Primary School<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those moving into secondary school, pupils\nare also spoilt for choice with several high performing schools in the area\ngetting great exam results. Some of these include Clifton Community\nSchool<\/a>, Wingfield Academy<\/a>, Winterhill\nSchool<\/a> and Brinsworth Academy<\/a> which also offers sixth\nform places. There are two main colleges in the town as well, Thomas Rotherham\nCollege<\/a> and Rotherham College<\/a>, for students going into further\neducation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leisure\nand Amenities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Residents of Rotherham are spoilt for choice\nin terms of leisure activities and amenities located within and near to the\ntown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those who are looking for nightlife, the area around Westgate is bursting with pubs, bars, and clubs. Elliot\u2019s Bar<\/a> is well known for its retro tunes as well as games such as Twister and Giant Jenga and clubbers flock to Renoirs<\/a> every weekend, a late-night venue which stays open until 5am. Also located on Westgate is the Cutler\u2019s Arms<\/a>, a traditional local which hosts live music and the The Riverside<\/a> which does great pub grub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rotherham\u2019s proximity to Meadowhall<\/a> and Sheffield city centre means mainstream shops are easily accessible but not predominantly located in the centre of Rotherham, leaving the independent shops to thrive there. You\u2019ll find independent delis, bakeries, clothing, homeware shops and bustling local markets in the town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking for something a little different,\nRotherham is also home to Magna Science Adventure<\/a>, an educational and\nfun day out for all the family where children can get hands-on while learning\nabout the four elements. Housed in the former Templeborough steelworks, Magna\nis full of interactive exhibits and unforgettable experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Culture vultures will be pleased to know that Rotherham Civic Centre<\/a> puts on theatre shows and productions all year round including an annual pantomime, live music, comedy, and entertainment. The new Forge Island leisure complex<\/a> also has plenty on offer, including a multiplex cinema, hotel, mall, and dining hall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s\nOn<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Rotherham has a busy yearly calendar of events and shows for all interests and tastes. The yearly Rotherham Show<\/a> attracts thousands of visitors to the town\u2019s Clifton Park for a whole weekend of activities, music, food, stalls and even a dog show. There\u2019s also the Real Ale and Music Festival<\/a>, held at Magna Science Adventure, which raises money for charities and good causes each year and has become a hugely successful event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If history and heritage are more your thing,\nthere\u2019s plenty of historic sites in and around Rotherham, including the\nstunning Wentworth\nWoodhouse<\/a> which boasts not one but two stately homes. There\u2019s also\nthe nearby Roche Abbey<\/a> ruins, an ancient monastery which\nis now an English Heritage site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a previous UEFA Women’s Euro competition host, Rotherham also enjoys
state-of-the-art facilities at the AESSEAL New York Stadium<\/a> and numerous other leisure<\/a> and sports<\/a> complexes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
