Sleaford is a small market town in the East Midlands county of\nLincolnshire. Settlements have existed in the area since the Iron Age, although\nthe area which encompasses modern Sleaford dates back to the 12th<\/sup>\ncentury and the arrival of Sleaford Castle, St Denys\u2019 Church and the current\nmarket square. With a population of over 17,500, Sleaford is the largest\nsettlement in the North Kesteven district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a well-connected town, with its own train station, an\nextensive bus network and easy access to the A17 and A15. Sleaford\nand the surrounding villages are also popular with families thanks to the\nfriendly community, low crime rates and good schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The overall average price of a house in the area over the last 12\nmonths was a competitive \u00a3203,688. Significantly less than the national average,\non a par with Lincolnshire overall (\u00a3209,417) and much more affordable\nthan Lincolnshire hotspots Barnack (\u00a3565,500), Ufford (\u00a3525,000) or Great\nCasterton (\u00a3403,188).   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vast majority of properties sold in Sleaford in the last 12\nmonths were detached, selling for an average price of \u00a3269,946, whilst\nsemi-detached properties and terraced houses averaged at \u00a3162,420 and \u00a3133,241,\nrespectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sleaford<\/a> is well connected to\nsurrounding towns and cities including Lincoln, Peterborough<\/a>, and Nottingham, all\nof which can be reached via rail in half an hour, under 45 minutes and 50\nminutes, respectively. Indeed, Sleaford is the only station locally with access\nto both north-to-south and east-to-west train lines, so the whole of\nLincolnshire is accessible from the town. For hassle free days out by the sea\nfor instance, Skegness<\/a> is an hour away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\nparticularly comprehensive bus network<\/a> is also in operation\nin and around Sleaford, and this makes it easy to travel around the town itself\nas well as venturing further afield into neighbouring areas such as Grantham\nand Boston. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For\ndrivers, Sleaford is conveniently located between the\nA17<\/a> and A18, allowing quick\nand easy transit to the M1. The city of Sheffield<\/a> is less than 70 miles away by road, and\noffers a gateway to the stunning Peak Distract National Park.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

East Midlands Airport<\/a> and access to\ninternational travel is also just over an hour away from Sleaford. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

William Alvey School<\/a> is located in Sleaford\nand has been rated as \u2018outstanding\u2019 by Ofsted. For\nfurther education, the nearby University of Lincoln<\/a> offers the opportunity\nfor residents to engage in life-long learning and offers a range of degree\ncourses, apprenticeships and specialist lectures and conferences. Rated as the\n\u2018Modern University of\nthe Year<\/a>\u2019\nin the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021, the university has something to\noffer everyone with an impressive range of facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For\nparents looking to connect with others locally there are a range of children\u2019s clubs<\/a> in the area including\n\u2018messy play\u2019 sessions, music classes and the local \u2018Dads and Kids Club\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leisure and amenities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Being within easy reach of the seaside resort of Skegness makes\nSleaford an ideal base for exploring the coastline. Skegness Beach offers a\nplace for play and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of life. There is\nalso the seal sanctuary to enjoy as well as Skegness Aquarium, Skegness\nPier and Fantasy Island Resort<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If a weekend closer to home is preferred, then there is plenty to\ndo in Sleaford itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peace and tranquillity can be found at the High Wood and North\nRauceby Walk<\/a>, North Kesteven Airfield\nTrail<\/a> and the Woodland Waters Fishing\nLake<\/a>, with the fishery well cared for by the owners and warden. Nearby\nTattershall Farm Park<\/a> is also a\npopular day out for all members of the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For\nindoor pursuits, Sleaford Leisure Centre<\/a> sits at the heart of\nthe community, and there is always plenty on offer. Sleaford and the surrounding area enjoy a calendar of events that\noffers something for everyone to enjoy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local theatre The Playhouse<\/a> offers\nregular performances of some of the country\u2019s best loved plays and Sleaford Rugby Club<\/a> not only offers sporting fun, but\nhosts regular events and visiting attractions like Russells International Circus<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tattershall Lakes<\/a> is home to\nthe family-friendly Colour Festival and the Vintage and Retro\nFestival<\/a>, which is a must for those with a passion for the past. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sleaford itself is also home to a lively market<\/a> every Monday, Friday and Saturday\nwith a popular farmers market on the first Saturday of each month too. There\nare Twelve Market Days of Christmas events in November and December and a\nspecific Christmas Market on Advent Sunday as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like any UK town, Sleaford does experience some criminal activity\nfrom time to time although rates<\/a> are\nreassuringly low, and Sleaford is a very safe place to live. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
