The first-ever motor car with an internal combustion\nengine was also produced here. It\u2019s a pretty resourceful place.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Improved transport links, access to attractive neighbouring towns and\nvillages, and plenty of decent local amenities means that Yeovil is fast\nbecoming a popular relocation destination. Competitive house prices don\u2019t hurt\neither!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The average house price in Yeovil was \u00a3225,243 over the last year.\nConsiderably less than both the South West (\u00a3327,210) and Somerset (\u00a3325,620)\noverall, particularly local hotspots Bathampton (\u00a3701,080) and Wedmore (\u00a3503,411).\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what is it actually like to live in\nYeovil?<strong> <\/strong>Let\u2019s dive in and find out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Transport links<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With two dedicated train stations operating in the area, Yeovil is a well-connected\nplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yeovil Junction Railway Station runs frequent services to many of the\nsouth west\u2019s major destinations including Exeter and Salisbury. It\u2019s also\npossible to reach London Waterloo in less than 2.5 hours with one quick change\nat Salisbury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The town\u2019s second railway station, Yeovil Pen Mill, runs regular\nservices to neighbouring towns and villages as well as the likes of Gloucester\nand Weymouth. You can also get to London Paddington in just over 2 hours via a\nchange at Westbury or Castle Cary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bustimes.org\/localities\/yeovil\">Local bus routes<\/a> are regular and reliable, covering the\nentire region while providing convenient links to nearby destinations including\nShepton Mallet, Barwick, Dorchester, and Taunton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re travelling by car, Yeovil is served by the A37, A30, and\nA3088. It\u2019s also a short, simple drive to the M5 \u2013 the gateway to the rest of\nthe south west, south east, and The Midlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nearest stations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrainline.com\/stations\/yeovil-junction\">Yeovil Junction Railway Station<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrainline.com\/stations\/yeovil-pen-mill\">Yeovil Pen Mill Railway Station<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Schools and education<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are a number of primary and secondary schools in\nthe Yeovil catchment area, as well as settings with suitable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.specialneedsguide.co.uk\/special-needs-schools-in-the-south-wes\">SEND<\/a> (special educational needs &amp;\ndisability) provision, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fivewaysschool.co.uk\/\">Fiveways School<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For those youngsters starting out on their educational journey, Yeovil\nboasts at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schoolguide.co.uk\/primary-schools\/Yeovil\">five well-respected\nprimary schools<\/a> including Kingfisher Primary, Huish Primary, and Oaklands Primary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For secondary schoolers, Yeovil is home to at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schoolguide.co.uk\/secondary-schools\/Yeovil\">six well-regarded\nsettings<\/a>\nincluding the Westfield Academy, Preston School, and Fairmead School. Many of\nthese schools also have a \u2018good\u2019 or \u2018outstanding\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.somersetlive.co.uk\/news\/somerset-news\/yeovil-schools-ofsted-ratings-inspections-3913536\">Ofsted rating<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have young adults looking to branch out into higher education, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yeovil.ac.uk\/\">Yeovil College<\/a> is a vibrant campus offering a choice\nA-level subjects, vocational courses, and modern apprenticeships. It has been\naround for 130 years too, so it\u2019s safe to say that this college knows a thing\nor two about education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oh, and not forgetting those little go-getters. Yeovil also plays host\nto plenty of trusted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.childcare.co.uk\/search\/Nurseries\/Yeovil\/Playgroup\">day nurseries and\nplaygroups<\/a>.\nAll bases are covered here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Leisure and amenities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While it may be a scenic Somerset town, the shopping in Yeovil is also\ngreat. The high street is peppered with inviting cafes, quirky independent\nstores, and renowned chain retailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.quedamshopping.co.uk\/stores\">Quedam Shopping Centre<\/a> is also inviting and modern, and\nhouses just about every kind of shop imaginable, from tech and gaming outlets\nto upscale clothing boutiques, and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the weekly food shop, Yeovil doesn\u2019t disappoint. In fact, there is\na Lidl, Morrisons, Co-op Food, Tesco Extra and Maxi Mart all just a short walk,\ncar, or bus ride away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you like to get active and work up a sweat, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freedom-leisure.co.uk\/centres\/goldenstones-leisure-centre\/\">Goldenstones Leisure\nCentre<\/a> is\na popular spot with its own gymnasium and swimming pool, as is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ledleisure.co.uk\/our-centre\/buckler-s-mead-leisure-centre\">Buckler\u2019s Mead Leisure Centre<\/a>. There are also a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/directory.somersetlive.co.uk\/search\/yeovil\/sports-clubs\">amateur sports clubs<\/a> in the area including a bowls\n&amp; squash collective and an athletics group if you\u2019d like to get healthy <em>and<\/em>\nsocial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yeovil\u2019s idyllic rural setting means that there are no end of walks,\nparks, and green open spaces in the area. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southsomersetcountryside.com\/yeovil-country-park\/\">Yeovil Country Park<\/a> is a stunning setting offering\n127 acres of jaw-dropping natural land to enjoy and explore and Milford Park\nand Garden (complete with its own skate park) plus <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yeoleisure.co.uk\/\">Yeo\nLeisure Park<\/a> are also incredibly popular, offering something for the whole family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s on?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yeovil is a pretty sizable town, but it has a strong community spirit.\nThere\u2019s always plenty going on here, with an eclectic mix of local <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yeoviltown.com\/events.aspx\">events<\/a> popping up most weeks throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From live music and charity gin evenings to wildlife events and\nintimate art exhibitions, there is rarely a dull moment in Yeovil if you\u2019re\nwilling to get out there and get involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For midweek date nights or leisurely weekend afternoons, there is a\nchoice of decent pubs and restaurants on the menu, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re looking for an ambient place to dine, we recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuovaitaliasomerset.com\/\">Nuova Italia<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlebarwick.co.uk\/\">Little Barwick House<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/tamburino.co.uk\/\">Tamburino<\/a>.
