The town name is\nsaid to come from\n&#8216;raege&#8217;, and &#8216;leah&#8217;, which means &#8216;Female roe-deer stream&#8217; or &#8216;she-goat stream&#8217;.\nBased on this notion, it is likely that the town was originally a pasture for\ngoats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dating back to the Saxon era,\nRayleigh\u2019s rich cultural heritage is present in the high street\u2019s buildings and\narchitectural structures. It is a place where old meets new with a quaint\ncommunity feel and plenty to offer young professionals, families, and retirees\nalike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With plenty of great local amenities,\neasy access to most of the south east\u2019s major destinations, and a wealth of green\nspace on the doorstep, Rayleigh is becoming increasingly popular with\nhomebuyers.
