Located around\n15 miles north-east of Canterbury on the Kent coast, Margate is an iconic\nseaside town with a rich historic and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s said that Margate \u2013 once known as\n\u2018Meregate\u2019 \u2013 has been an operational port town since the Middle Ages. The town\nhas seen a raft of transformations since then, and despite a period of decline\nand neglect seen by most British seaside towns towards the end of the 20th\ncentury, Margate has remained one of the UK\u2019s most popular seaside holiday\nspots and has seen a huge period of regeneration in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past decade, Margate has enjoyed\na great deal of investment, making it a cool, hip, and vibrant\nplace<\/a>\nto live. Flocks of ex-Londoners are currently heading to Margate in their\ndroves, with homebuyers from further afield also keen to join the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Margate has its own train station\noperated by Southeastern Trains. The station is well-equipped and runs regular\nservices to London St Pancras and Victoria, both of which take between one hour\nto an hour and a half. The station also offers routes to many of Kent\u2019s major\ndestinations as well as both Ashford and Dover (via Ramsgate).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The town offers a variety of bus routes<\/a> that loop around the town in\naddition to neighbouring areas<\/a> including Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Herne\nBay, Whitstable, and Stansted Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those travelling by car, Margate\noffers direct access to the A20, A299, A2, and M2 \u2013 all of which provide access\nto well-trodden routes throughout the south-east, south-west, and Midlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
