The Cathedral is one of Europe\u2019s finest gothic buildings and the grounds are often used for graduation celebrations because of its spectacular back drop. The Cathedral was the skyscraper of its day and was the tallest building in the world for over 200 years! Lincoln Castle is rich in culture and free to visit. Thousands of tourists flock to the attraction each year. Lincoln has also been put on the map as the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton who was born in a manor house near Grantham in 1642. You can even visit the National Trust Property<\/a> and the actual apple tree that inspired his thoughts about gravity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lincoln\nis a foodie\u2019s paradise, with Steep Hill and Brayford Waterfront<\/a> said to be the best\nplaces to eat. The Bronze Pig<\/a>, famous Browns Pie Shop<\/a>, Jews House Restaurant<\/a> and The Cheese Society Caf\u00e9<\/a> are all popular\neateries. The Old Bakery Restaurant<\/a> is a firm favourite amongst\nlocals and the only restaurant in Lincoln to hold two AA Rosette awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Lincoln has a popular nightlife since all the pubs and bars are within walking (or staggering!) distance, so no need for a taxi. Head to Trebles and Liquor<\/a> to start your night out in style, and Cubes<\/a> for some hardcore Rock music to party the night away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n There are also plenty of family friendly green spaces<\/a> in and around Lincoln. The most famous events in Lincoln are probably the Pop-up Christmas Markets<\/a>. Attracting thousands of people a year, these events are held in and around the city each December and offer a range of artisan crafts, gifts and festive foods from local makers, artists and producers alongside plenty of live music and entertainment for young and old alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lincoln is a massive farming area so expect to find heaps of independent grocers and farmers markets. Lincoln Farmers Market<\/a> takes place on every 3rd<\/sup> Saturday of the month and is held on Castle Hill between 9am and 4pm. On the 1st<\/sup> Saturday of every month on Castle Hill and every 2nd<\/sup> Saturday on Cornhill, is the Makers Market<\/a>. This showcases traditional and contemporary arts and crafts. There are plenty more exciting markets<\/a> to explore locally too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lincoln Sausage Festival<\/a> is one not to be missed. This family friendly event is held in Castle Square and has cooking demonstrations, food stalls and live music. For sports fans, there are a number of events in Castle Square and Lincoln is also home to The Imps<\/a> professional football team.
