Popular with families thanks to a good\nselection of local schools, plenty of child friendly amenities and a great\nsense of community in a village-like setting, Hither Green also attracts\nhomebuyers looking for a speedy commute into central London and competitive\nproperty prices in the budget busting capital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With an average property price of \u00a3485,082\nin 2020, Hither Green is significantly more affordable than South East London\n(\u00a3563,922) and the Borough of Lewisham overall (\u00a3503,525), particularly in\ncomparison to pricey neighbours Blackheath and Crofton Park with average\nproperty prices of \u00a3694,330 and \u00a3626,029 respectively last year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gentrification which has seen\nprices skyrocket in nearby south east hotspots Forest Hill, Brockley, Peckham\nand Greenwich has been slower to happen in Hither Green, making it one of\nLondon\u2019s most popular spots<\/a> with first time buyers looking for a\nbit more for their money in recent years. Hither Green is accessed via the Hither\nGreen train station on the Southeastern route. You can be at London Bridge in less\nthan 10 minutes on the fast service, Cannon Street and Charing Cross in 20\nminutes and Victoria in less than 40 minutes via a change at Charing Cross. Whilst\nthere is currently no underground service locally, plans to extend the Bakerloo Line<\/a> to Lewisham are in the pipeline and it\nis possible to pick up the London Overground at nearby New Cross or New Cross\nGate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are also a number of local bus\nroutes such as the 160 to Sidcup, the 225 and N171 to Canada Water, the 261 and\n273 to Lewisham and the 202 to Blackheath or Crystal Palace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For drivers, the A20 will take you to\nKent, the M25 is only 20 minutes away and London City Airport can be reached in\naround half an hour and Gatwick in just under an hour. The A205 South Circular and\nthe A2 are also nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For fans of the two-wheel commute,\nthere are a number of cycling routes<\/a> which take in Hither Green and for a scenic cycle,\npick up the route<\/a> from Hither Green station to Shoreditch which takes in Blackheath and\nGreenwich Park. Lewisham Council<\/a> also offer free cycling lessons for\nall ages and a 1-month bicycle hire scheme and cycling storage facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
