However, the area still remains a multicultural hub and retains its unique sense of character. House prices are also relatively low considering how well-connected this northern suburb is, especially in comparison to more affluent neighbours Highbury and Stoke Newington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That doesn\u2019t mean Finsbury Park is the preserve of the young professionals though. Lots of good primary school options and short commutes makes the area appealing for families as well, let alone the great outdoor space, fun festivals, and a strong sense of community.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Transport<\/strong> <strong>Links<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Impressively for a North London suburb, Finsbury Park is still in zone 2 of the London transport zones, making the regular commute a more affordable prospect. Finsbury Park station includes a tube, bus and rail interchange, which runs on the Thameslink line to Blackfriars and also offers connections to Brighton and Cambridge.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tube station is located on both the Victoria and Piccadilly Lines, which means reaching central hubs like King\u2019s Cross St Pancras, Oxford Circus, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and Knightsbridge is a breeze and the Piccadilly Line also offers a direct service to all Heathrow Terminals. Travelling one stop further in either direction on the Victoria Line to Highbury and Islington or Seven Sisters also connects you to the London Overland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A number of local buses serve Finsbury Park and run to Central London, including the number 29 (Trafalgar Square), number 4 (Blackfriars), number 19 (Battersea), and number 106 (Whitechapel).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cyclists will appreciate the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cycle-route.com\/routes\/Hampstead_Heath,_Regent_Park_and_Finsbury_Park-Cycle-Route-1241.html\"> road free access<\/a> to Hampstead Heath and Regents Park along the old railway line and plans are also in place for a brand new<a href=\"https:\/\/www.islington.gov.uk\/roads\/cycling\/finsbury-park-to-highbury-fields-cycleway\"> cycle superhighway<\/a> in the area, linking it with Farringdon in south Islington and Palmers Green in Enfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Stations nearby<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/hub\/stop\/HUBFPK\/finsbury-park\/?Input=Finsbury+Park\">Finsbury Park<\/a> &nbsp;<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/national-rail\/stop\/910GDRYP\/drayton-park-rail-station\/?Input=Drayton+Park+Rail+Station\">Drayton Park<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/bus\/stop\/910GHRGY\/harringay-rail-station\/?Input=Harringay+Rail+Station\">Harringay<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/overground\/stop\/910GHRGYGL\/harringay-green-lanes-rail-station\/?Input=Harringay+Green+Lanes+Rail+Station\">Harringay Green Lanes<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/bus\/stop\/910GHRNSY\/hornsey-rail-station\/\">Hornsey<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Schools<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being well connected to most of North London, Finsbury Park residents have the advantage of a wide pool of schools. However, there are also some<a href=\"https:\/\/www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk\/schools-by-type?step=default&amp;table=schools&amp;region=206&amp;la-name=islington&amp;geographic=la&amp;for=ofsted\"> great schools<\/a> in the Borough of Islington itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stjhv.islington.sch.uk\/\">St John\u2019s Highbury Vale CofE Primary School<\/a> achieved Outstanding in every area in their 2014 Ofsted report and they pride themselves on their diversity and inclusivity.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.graftonschool.co.uk\/\"> Grafton Primary School<\/a> is another popular choice, also regularly achieving Outstanding in Ofsted reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whilst there aren\u2019t many secondary schools near Finsbury Park,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.smmacademy.org\/\"> St Mary Magdalene Academy<\/a> is one of the best and includes a primary school and sixth form provision as well. Achieving a \u2018Good\u2019 rating from Ofsted, the school has achieved higher GCSE results than the nation\u2019s average and whilst it is a Church of England school, they welcome students of any, or no faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northbridgehouse.com\/senior-canonbury\/\">North Bridge House Senior Canonbury<\/a> is a co-educational private school offering additional GCSEs such as Latin, Mandarin and Computing and a range of extra-curricular activities like debating, sports, music, and photography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For those in years 12 and 13,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.candi.ac.uk\/\"> City and Islington College<\/a> is one of the largest further education colleges in London and offers a range of qualifications, from A Levels to BTECs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finsbury Park residents also have the advantage of easy access to all of London\u2019s universities. The closest to Finsbury Park is<a href=\"https:\/\/www.londonmet.ac.uk\/\"> London Metropolitan University<\/a>, which offers a broad range of undergraduate BSc and BA courses. A new residential hall for the multi school<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arts.ac.uk\/study-at-ual\/accommodation\/halls-of-residence\/sketch-house\"> University of the Arts London<\/a> is also a recent addition to the area and provides a quick commute to all of the campuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Leisure and amenities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For outdoor space in spades, look no further than<a href=\"https:\/\/www.haringey.gov.uk\/libraries-sport-and-leisure\/parks-and-open-spaces\/z-parks-and-open-spaces\/finsbury-park\"> Finsbury Park<\/a>. Numerous sports facilities, a boating lake, play areas and scenic gardens plus many a festival and outdoor event means the park is the life blood of the area which takes it name. Head to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.haringey.gov.uk\/libraries-sport-and-leisure\/parks-and-open-spaces\/z-parks-and-open-spaces\/parkland-walk-local-nature-reserve\"> Parkland Walk Nature Reserve<\/a> which connects Finsbury Park to Highgate via the old railway track for a scenic stroll and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.woodberrywetlands.org.uk\/\"> Woodberry Wetlands<\/a> is also nearby; a great place for a bit of wildlife spotting and there are also climbing and sailing opportunities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re a fitness enthusiast,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.better.org.uk\/leisure-centre\/london\/islington\/sobell?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=organic&amp;utm_campaign=google_my_business\"> Sobell Leisure Centre<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.better.org.uk\/leisure-centre\/london\/islington\/finsbury\"> Finsbury Leisure Centre<\/a> offer both gym facilities and a pool. Pure Gym also have a branch in the suburb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And whilst you may only be a few tube stops from Oxford Circus, shopping enthusiasts should be sure to check out<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pg\/FonthillRoadLondon\/posts\/\"> Fonthill Road<\/a> for quirky, one-off boutiques, fashion wholesalers and original pieces a world away from Primark.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Given its melting pot of cultures, it should come as no surprise that there are plenty of amazing restaurants in Finsbury Park. From the famously authentic<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pizzeriapappagone.co.uk\/index.html\"> Pappagone Pizzeria<\/a>, Japanese and Korean hotspot<a href=\"https:\/\/dotorirestaurant.wixsite.com\/dotorirestaurant\"> Dotori<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/purecyprus.net\/\"> Pure Cyprus<\/a> and local hero<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxssandwichshop.com\/\"> Max\u2019s Sandwich Shop<\/a> to more<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelostromanian.com\/cool-coffee-shops-in-finsbury-park-london\/\"> caf\u00e9s<\/a> than you could shake a stick at, check out<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.co.uk\/RestaurantsNear-g186338-d4140286-Finsbury_Park_Station-London_England.html\"> TripAdvisor<\/a> for the most popular local eateries of the moment. For drinks, it\u2019s hard to beat local favourite<a href=\"https:\/\/rowans.co.uk\/\"> Rowans<\/a>. This venue is a bowling alley, karaoke bar, games arcade and club in one, making it somewhere where you can both start and end your night!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s on?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are plenty of summertime festivals in the park, the most famous being the hip-hop festival<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wirelessfestival.co.uk\/\"> Wireless<\/a> and the pop music extravaganza<a href=\"https:\/\/communityfestival.london\/\"> Community<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Thursdays, there is a pub quiz at<a href=\"https:\/\/stapletontavern.com\/\"> Stapleton Tavern<\/a>, which is a great way to get involved in the local community. There are also regular experimental plays at<a href=\"https:\/\/www.parktheatre.co.uk\/\"> The Park Theatre<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, a big part of Finsbury Park\u2019s culture is its proximity to the Emirates Stadium, home to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arsenal.com\/\"> Arsenal<\/a> Football Club.
